Capital Publisher Process Flow

The Capital Publisher usage flow can be organized into four distinct phases. The first three phases are covered in detail in the Capital Publisher User Guide. This guide (Publisher Browser) covers the final phase, Viewing Service Documentation.

1. Loading Engineering Data — Begin by loading engineering data:

   • For Capital customers, diagrams have been created using other Capital tools. An existing project is imported and opened in Capital Publisher.
   • Data from third party tools is loaded using the bridges framework, then partitioned and rendered using Capital AutoView Assist for Logic.

2. Preparing Service Documentation — This task comprises the following elements:

   • Partitioning — The content of large, complex, engineering diagrams may need sub-dividing across several diagrams.

   • Formatting — Data visibility, fonts and colors used will need to be specific for service organizations. Changes may also extend to wire coloring, and the exchange of symbols.

     Note: Fonts used in diagrams or text in Capital Publisher must be installed on all client platforms where SmartClients packages are accessed. If a required font is not available, web browsers will display diagrams or text in their default font.

   • Embellishing — Details which are not available during the engineering process are added to the diagrams. This could include service names for objects or locations, service notices and advice, including hints and tips, as well as additional languages.

3. Generating Service Documentation — The packager generates the required service documentation package based on the specified settings.

4. Viewing Service Documentation — Packages are self-contained folders, comprising all the interactive system diagrams and additional reference material. The folder can be placed on a server, CD, or memory stick for viewing by any number of users without the need to connect to, or install, a Capital license.
