Creating a System Block Design

You can create high-level system block designs using a simplified set of actions (blocks and highways) from the Home ribbon.

Prerequisites

• Configure a Design Abstraction in Capital Project Manager with the Type set to System Block.

• Create a design and assign it the design abstraction which has the Type System Block.

Procedure

1. Open the design.A simplified set of actions is displayed on the Home ribbon. Figure 129: System Block Ribbon The availability of these actions is controlled by the System Block design abstraction Type assigned to the design. See also Using Design Abstractions to Control Ribbon Display.

2. Create your diagram using blocks and highways. See also Adding a Block and Adding a Highway.

3. Right-click a block or highway and select Properties.The system has automatically created the property Implemented By on each block and highway, with a value set to the component name. This is used to identify the associated blocks / devices and highways / nets, when you run the Trace and Compare process between this abstraction and any associated system detailed abstractions, to synchronize, check, and maintain the validity of the design. Figure 130: Block Property Figure 131: Highway Property Note This property will automatically change to the block name unless the property value is changed to something other than the name value.

4. Save the diagram.
