Network Tab

To access: From the Project Defaults window, click the Network tab.

Used by System Administrators to configure the project preferences related to the nodal network.

Objects

Field Description
Default Span Specify the default span width in meters for nodal route types. Default is 2. Note You can only modify this value in the Admin project.
Default Weight Threshold(%) Specify the maximum percentage that a segment is filled by weight before a warning is displayed. Default is 100.
Default Fill Threshold(%) Specify the maximum percentage that a segment is filled by volume before a warning is displayed. Default is 100.
Virtual Segment Type Specify the existing Segment type used to represent Virtual segments created between proximate nodes. Recommended is V. Note You cannot modify this value once virtual segments exist on the network.
Jump Segment Type Specify the existing Segment type used to represent Jump segments (segments in the cable route with no physical Cableway Equipment). Recommended is _JUMP. Note You cannot modify this value once jump segments exist on the network.
Proximate Node Tolerance (mm) Specify the distance between two nodes which is close enough for them to be proximate nodes. Default is 1.
Allow Mu-Metal Select to enable Mu-Metal to be used. Default is cleared.
Allow Non-Standard Penetrations Select to enable non standard penetration nodal route types to be used where the aperture shape may be irregular. Recommended. Activates Usable Area field.
Principal/Secondary Network Enables the definition of the Principal / Secondary Network (nodes or segments) and the option of routing using the SPS rule, that is, a route cannot leave a Principal raceway and then attempt to join another Principal raceway later in the route.
Show Penetrations as Major Nodes Select to include penetrations as Major nodes on reports which show cable route details, for example, node to node and segment to segment. Enables the option to print Point segments and Major nodes only. Default is selected.
Use Cable Bundling Select to enable cable bundle formations to be specified for use in fill calculations. Recommended. If cleared, any bundling defined for cables and work packages is reset.
Allow Alternative Rise Fill Calculations Select to enable alternative rise fill calculations. If selected, new derivatives of the rise fill calculations can be created with alternative sleeve definitions. Default is cleared.
Allow Multi-tier Network Select to enable segments on the nodal network to have multiple tiers. Recommended.
Allow Segment Type/Segregation Update by Build Enabled for multi-build projects only. Choose the following options to enable segments on the nodal network to have different types / segregation values by build: No (Default) Yes (Recommended) Type Only Segregation Only
Include pending autoroute cables in fill calculations Select to automatically include pending autoroute cables in fill calculations. Default is cleared.
Exclude bundling in volume fill calculations Enabled only if Use Cable Bundling is selected. Select to automatically exclude bundling in volume fill calculations. Default is cleared.
Exclude unapproved cables in fill calculations Select to automatically exclude unapproved cables in volume fill calculations. Default is cleared.
Allow Manual Insert of Segment ID Select to enable Segment ID to be entered directly on the Create Nodal Network screen and validate against user defined format rules instead of auto-generating. Recommended.
NR ID Formatting Select to auto-generate Segment ID based on user defined format rules. Clear to default to the NR ID number. Recommended.
Allow Auto-Update of (Deck) Segment ID If using deck-based format rules to generate Segment IDs, select to automatically update the Segment ID, if the deck the Segment ID was originally based on is updated. Recommended is cleared.
Allow Segment Type update at any status Select to enable changes to the equipment used for network segments, even if approved cables (or cables having had a Pull Sheet printed) are routed along it, or the installation has commenced. Recommended. See also Print Pull Sheet Form.
Allow Segment Length Update if Approved Cables Select to enable a segment length to be updated even if approved cables are routed along it. Recommended. Valid if the new length does not cause any of the cables to exceed their maximum length (if specified) or fall short of their minimum length (if specified). Updates are only permitted where cables have status up to approved but not if any of the cables are PSP (Pull Sheet Printed) or higher.
Allow Fill Type Updates for Segment Select to enable Fill Types to be modified at the segment level. Recommended.
Allow Point Segments Select to enable Point segments to be specified and automatically included in routing. Recommended. Used to represent points where cables are suspended between hangers rather than run along trays or ladder racks. Note You cannot clear this option once Point segments have been specified.
Node ID Level Component If multi-tier segment functionality is required, the component of the node ID used to represent the level must be known. Specify a suitable format rule for the node ID. Default is cleared.
Raceways Select to enable the Raceway ID to be specified for segments and used as an option in the Summary route. Recommended. If cleared and the Summary route is specified as Raceways, this option will revert to segments.
