Updating Symbols

If a symbol has been updated in a symbol library, you can update the symbol on diagrams where it is already used. This update also updates the fixed properties of the symbol.

If a symbol on a diagram is controlled by a library part, you must update the library part on that object instance to update the symbol.

Restrictions and Limitations

  • Performing a Batch Update of Library Parts does not update the attributes and properties of symbols associated with library parts, including Analysis models defined against a symbol. You must use the Update Part action on specific object instances and select Copy Attribute/Property Values from Symbol in the Map Pins Dialog Box to update symbol modifications associated with library parts.

  • You cannot resize a symbol in Capital Logic Designer. To resize a symbol graphic, you must use Capital Symbol Designer and then update the symbol graphic on the diagram. See Updating Symbols.

Procedure

  1. From the Diagram window or the Design Browser window, right‑click the symbol instance and select Update Symbol. Alternatively, select the symbol, press Space Bar and enter Update Symbol.Note To update multiple symbol instances, press Shift+click to select the symbol instances. If a symbol is used more than once on a diagram, you must select every instance to update all instances of the symbol. If you select only one instance of the symbol, only that instance is updated.

The Update Symbol - Options Dialog Box is displayed.

  1. Specify the options and click OK. The symbol instances are updated to the latest version.
