Cable Routing > Automatic Cable Routing

Managing Routing Requests

You can manage and view the submitted routing requests to identify the progress of the cable routes and evaluate the route paths and lengths in the 3D visualization window before you accept or reject the route.

When cable routing is complete, the details of each segment along the cable path are displayed in the Routing Details table in the Manage Routing Requests dialog box.

Restrictions and Limitations

  • The time to validate and accept the cable route of a group of cables is determined by the number of group members. If the number of group members is >10, Siemens recommends that you increase the requesttimeout parameter value in the ccrsconfig.xml file to avoid timeout errors. See “ccrsconfig.xml File” in the Install Guide for Capital Cable Router. Tip The timeout can occur on your web browser while the server is processing the request. Click the Refresh icon () in the Manage Request dialog box to update the status.

  • You cannot accept cable routes if other users have locked the cable for editing. See also Locking Design Objects for Editing.

Prerequisites

  • Open the Manage Routing Requests dialog box, and select one or more cables in the Routing Request table.

Procedure

Determine the action you want to take:

If you want to… Do the following…
Locate the cable route in the context of the 3D assembly. The cable is cross-highlighted on the nodal network from the Start to End nodes in the 3D visualization window.
Evaluate the cable route and segment details. The details of all the segments along the route, such as the IDs of the From and To nodes and the cable length, are displayed in the Routing Details table.
View details of the routing log. Click View Log Details to display information on the last request processed on the cable.
Include the fill values of pending cable route requests, which will be routed on this segment, if accepted. Select the Include pending route requests in fill check box.
Validate and accept, reject, or resubmit a cable route. Click one of the following options to process the cable: Validate & Accept Route — Confirms the calculated route and updates the status of the cable details. Dimmed if a preference is selected that enables a prohibited route to be accepted. Reject Route — Removes the calculated route and the submitted cable from the Manage Routing Requests dialog box and the Auto‑Router queue. Resubmit — Removes the calculated route and the submitted cable from the Manage Routing Requests dialog box but retains the cable in the Auto‑Router queue to resubmit using different rules and preferences.
