Automatically Selecting
Cavity Components
You can run the cavity component selection routine, triggering the selection of terminals, seals, and plugs from the library, considering any selection constraints and drivers configured against cavities, wires, or wire ends.
Restrictions and Limitations
- The following procedure assumes that you are managing cavity components for all connectors and devices on a design. To use this facility on one or more connectors or devices, select the required objects on the design before opening the dialog box.
Prerequisites
Cavity component selection has not been run on the selected design.
Housing definitions are configured as required for selection of components. See the. See the Housing Tab topic for configuration settings.
Procedure
- Either:With no objects selected, press Space Bar and enter CCM.
Right-click an empty area of the diagram and select Cavity Component Management.
The Cavity Component Management Dialog Box is displayed. The Name edit box displays All to indicate the process will be run on all the connectors or devices in the design.
- Click the Generate Combinations and Select Parts button.
Results
Cavity wire combinations are automatically generated in accordance with the constraint that is in place. See “Set Cavity Details Generation Method Constraint”.
Terminals, seals, and plugs are selected automatically and displayed in the Cavity Details table grid.
Terminals for empty cavities are selected where Unwired Terminals Required attribute is set.Any backshell terminations that are listed in the Cavity Details table grid also have automatic selections made.
Any specified mandatory extra cavity components also have automatic selections made.

The system runs a number of design rule checks while selecting components. If any conflicts are encountered, a Warning () symbol is displayed in the DRC Results field. Click the symbol to view the results. Backshell terminations that are listed in the Cavity Details table grid and do not have any information defined in their library housing definition are not subject to the design rule checks.
