Component Rules
Component rules used by the system during harness synchronization.
Additional Components If you use Include Slot with Harness to include devices placed in a slot in Capital Systems Integrator, during synchronization those devices will be created as Additional Components in Capital Harness Designer. The Change Policy for Additional Components is ignored in this situation.
Cavity Components Terminals, cavity plugs, cavity seals, and extra cavity components are all authored in Capital Harness Designer; therefore, the only synchronization action required is to specify in the applied Change Policies that they should not be deleted. Caution Cavity components are associated components of connectors, and during synchronization inherit the Included On BOM attribute value specified on incoming connectors. For example, if the Include On BOM attribute is cleared, associated components in the harness design are excluded on any Bill of Materials (BOM) tables, and attributes such as Plugs Required are cleared automatically in the Add Connector Dialog Box and Cavity Component Management Dialog Box.

- Connectors Modular Connectors When synchronizing connector data with a modular placeholder, sub-connectors are preserved.
Backshell Translation Wires terminating at backshells in the source design are terminated at the parent connector in Capital Harness Designer. Extra cavities are automatically added to accommodate the wires.
Refined Connectors In Capital Systems Integrator, a fanout is created, generating multiple connectors and branches, which are passed to Capital Harness Designer. Variant wires are created automatically and assigned appropriate option expressions.
Devices All devices with directly connected wiring are synchronized using the device change policy. See Change Policies.
Multicores
Shields are translated as inner cores of a multicore in Capital Harness Designer. Synchronizing a variant multicore from Capital Systems Integrator will create multiple multicores in the composite harness design in Capital Harness Designer, with the same name but different option expressions. Each multicore will contain the wires for its variant. You can see the option expression in the tooltip when hovering over the multicore in the Design Browser. Different part numbers can be assigned to each of these multicores.Overbraids Shield terminations are translated as overbraid end terminations, and are terminated at the corresponding connector/splice cavities or backshell terminations.
Splices Capital Systems Integrator / Capital Wiring Integrator only. You can configure the synchronization process from Capital Systems Integrator and Capital Wiring Integrator, to enable splice position changes to be updated in Capital Harness Designer and Capital Harness Designer Modular. The Project Preference Allow splice repositioning during Capital Systems Integrator/Topology synchronization is selected.

The process moves splices in accordance with the following rules and displays relevant feedback information in the Synchronization Summary Output Window: For a splice position to change, the target bundle must already exist on the target design and be long enough for the splice anchor distance to be respected.
If the source splice is on a new bundle and the Change Policy used does not allow bundle creation, the synchronization process will not move the splice.
If the anchor distance of the source splice is longer than the bundle on the target harness and the Change Policy used does not allow bundle updates, the synchronization process will not move the splice.
If a design has a splice placement constraint set, which blocks placement of splices on a target bundle, the synchronization process respects the constraint and does not move the splice.
If there is an existing object at the target location of a moved splice, the synchronization process places the splice at an additional reference node, zero distance from the existing one.
Splice pin names from Capital Logic Designer and Capital Wiring Integrator are preserved and synchronized to splice cavity names.
Any synchronized splice wires are terminated in the correct synchronized splice cavity names in Capital Harness Designer.
The Balanceable attribute on the splice, specified in Capital Logic Designer and Capital Wiring Integrator, is preserved.
Terminal Plating Terminal material selection is managed in Capital Harness Designer. Any pin properties added in the source design are ignored.
Wires
Synchronizing variant wires from Capital Systems Integrator creates multiple wires in the composite harness design in Capital Harness Designer, with the same name but different option expressions. You can see the option expression in the tooltip when hovering over the wire in the Design Browser.
