Adding a
Splice with an Associated Library Part
You can place a splice onto a harness design by associating a splice from the library.
Procedure
Press Space Bar and enter Splice. The cursor changes to .
Click to place the splice:If you click a node, the splice will be placed, anchored at that node.
If you click an empty area of the design, a new structure node will be created at which to anchor the splice.
If you click a bundle, the Node Position Utility Dialog Box is displayed and a new reference node will be created at which to locate the splice. It is also possible to enable variant positioning and anchor the splice to any reference node on the same bundle. See also “Variant Position Reference Nodes” on the Node Position Utility dialog box.
The Add Splice Dialog Box is displayed. Note If you press Ctrl when you click to place the component, the Add Splice dialog box does not display.
Click the ellipsis (...) button to the right of the Library Part field. The Part Selection Dialog Box is displayed, to search for and insert a splice from the library. The associated splice will be displayed in the Library Part field.
Click OK.
Results
- The splice is placed onto the design. The following splice entities are displayed: The component part number
A splice cavity table
Any Name assigned to the splice
Any symbol associated with the splice Note The splice entities listed comprise the default offering as dictated by the style set shipped with Capital Harness Designer. Both the entities displayed, and their appearance can be modified. See also the Capital Diagram Styling User Guide.
The splice is added to the Harness Design Browser.
The splice is created with any cavity names that are defined in the Capital Component Manager Cavity Names Tab. If none are defined, the splice is created with default cavity names L, R, and X.
