Introduction to 3D Electrical Design
Introduction to 3D Electrical Design
The 3D Electrical Design functionality enables the retrieval of harness data of both Designcenter NX and Catia V5 MCAD solutions and the exchange and management of design data with Capital. The functionality works in a broadly similar fashion for both Designcenter NX and Catia V5, but where there are differences these are noted in this user guide.
There are two distinct elements involved in the 3D Electrical Design information exchange happening in parallel to one another; the 3D harness modeling handled on the MCAD side and the electro-mechanical co-design done in the embedded Capital add-on application. Teamcenter manages and controls all the actual design data. You must have a Teamcenter account and be logged in to it prior to embarking on design activities as all data is served from, and saved back to Teamcenter.
Additionally, depending on your MCAD solution, NX or Catia V5 must be integrated with Teamcenter.
This is all discussed further in subsequent sections.
