Trace and Compare for Block
Designs
You can configure the Capital Trace and Compare functionality to use a specific “System Block and Detail” comparator. This comparator checks for differences between your system block and detailed schematic designs.

You can find full details for using the trace and compare functionality in “Compare and Propagate” in the Capital Design Tools - Common Functions User Guide.
Click the With dropdown list on the To Do List Tab to select the System Block and Detail comparator.
Note
If the nets design is subsequently converted to a wiring design, the comparator will still function between the system block and the new wiring design.

Tip
To display the comparator in the dropdown list, you must renaming the changevalidator.xml.example file to changevalidator.xml in the capital_home\config installation folder.
System Block and Detail Comparator Checks
The comparator performs the compare based on property value of “Implemented By” in the block design and “Implements” in the detailed design.
The comparator checks:
System blocks have a representation in the detailed abstraction.
Detailed devices have a representation in the system block abstraction.
There is at least one connection in the detailed design that matches with the highway connection in the system block.
Properties assigned to the highways match with their implemented nets.
Properties assigned to the blocks match with the related devices.
Properties which are only assigned to the nets or wires and devices are excluded from the comparator.
You can compare between build lists, not just designs.
Note
When using the “System Block and Detailed” comparator, one of the designs must have an abstraction with the type System Block. If neither design being compared has such an abstraction but objects in them have Implements and Implemented By properties, the To Do List tab displays a message that the design types are not correct for this comparator.
If neither design has such an abstraction and no objects in them have Implements and Implemented by properties, the To Do List tab displays a message that there is nothing to do. If you receive such a message, ensure that you are comparing at least one design with an abstraction of type System Block.
