Batch Updating ICDs

You can use the batch update of ICDs action to quickly synchronize changes between multiple ICDs and devices in Capital Logic Designer build lists and designs.

The functionality enables all devices in a selected scope (a build list or a design) to be quickly and efficiently maintained with changes made to the associated ICD information in Capital Device Modeler using a single batch action Update Devices from ICDs. When the action is complete, devices and their connectivity are updated from the originating ICD.

When the action is run, a progress bar is displayed indicating the design wide progress. This provides instant feedback as the process can take a short while, depending on the number of designs in the selected scope.

You can right-click a build list or one or more designs and select Update Devices from ICDs to invoke the action.

When the action is selected a warning message is displayed informing you that all devices in the design set will be updated from the applicable ICD. Additionally any changes will be saved and cannot be undone and any open designs will be saved and closed. You are given the option to click Continue and Save, or to cancel and abort the action.

When the action is run, the Output window displays messages reporting successes and any failures. Hyperlinks are provided to navigate to devices in the design where, for example, connectivity might have been updated and properties propagated.

You can also use the hyperlinks to jump to the Device in the ICD tab, where you can view, for example, the devices role. From here you can also right-click and select View ICD Details to view the original ICD definition from within Capital Device Modeler.

The Output window also reports if the update is not possible because a design is locked by another user. In this scenario, you must wait for the lock to be released, and then run Update Devices from ICDs on the required design only.
