New Harness Diagram Dialog

To access: When creating a new diagram, right-click a harness design in the Project browser and select New Diagram.
Used to create and configure a new diagram for a harness design.

Objects
| Field | Description |

| Name | A label to identify the harness diagram, which defaults to Diagram1. Enter a new name, or click the ellipsis (...) button to the right of the field to select from a list of pre-specified harness diagram names maintained in the project’s Object Type Information in Capital Project Manager. Mandatory. |
| Style Set | Select the style set to associate with this diagram from the dropdown list. If no additional style sets have been created, only Default is available. Mandatory. See “Style Sets” in the Capital Diagram Styling User Guide to create and maintain style sets. |
| Reference Diagram | Only available when creating a second or subsequent diagram for a design, this dropdown list offers all existing diagrams for the same design. Select the diagram you want to use as the basis for the new diagram; when the new diagram is created, all of the harness objects (bundles, connectors, insulations, and so on) from the reference diagram are copied onto the new diagram. |
| Full Scale | The following options enable the creation of a diagram in which bundle representations are displayed at 100% of the size at which they will appear when printed out. Length Selecting this option results in the diagram being locked to 100% scale. In other words, the diagram’s physical scale is locked to the grid spacing, and cannot be changed; bundle lengths are displayed at the same scale as they will appear when printed out, unless they are manually overridden. Optional. Modify First Segment Only available if the Length option is selected. Select to apply length changes made to bundles, to the bundle segment nearest to the datum node. By default, changes in length are applied to the bundle segment furthest from the datum node. Optional. Width Only available if the Length option is selected. Select to display bundle widths at full scale, accurately representing the true width of the bundle, as calculated from the bundle diameter. Optional. |
| Bundle Options | Only enabled if Full Scale Length is selected. Use to configure how bundles are created (full scale or flex, see also “Bundle Overview”) when you are creating a new full scale diagram from a non-scale Reference Diagram. Select one of the following: Create bundles in full scale if applicable All bundles not in a loop are created as full scale bundles. Any Loop Bundles that are created (including those created by multi-entry connectors), will contain one non-scale flex bundle. Create all looped bundles as Flex Bundles All bundles not in a loop are created as full scale bundles. Any loop bundles (including those created by multi-entry connectors) are created as non-scale flex bundles. Using this option, any loop geometry, grip points and arcs from the non-scale diagram are preserved as much as possible within the constraints imposed by the full scale diagram. Create all bundles as Flex Bundles All bundles are created as non-scale flex bundles. Using this option, any loop geometry, grip points, and arcs from the non‑scale diagram are preserved. “Create all looped bundles as Flex Bundles” or “Create all bundles as Flex Bundles” options can be used to retain any non-scale diagram complex bundle loop structures. Flex Bundles are used to achieve this and Flex Bundles can be converted into full scale bundles afterwards. Note The effects of the setting you choose also apply to any loops formed using multi-entry connectors. See also “Converting a Flex Bundle to Full Scale Bundle” and “Converting a Full Scale Bundle to a Flex Bundle”. |
| Physical and Grid Space | The following options enable you to override the default values specified at System or Project level for Physical Scale and Grid Space settings. These control the relationship between the size of bundles when printed, and their true size, as defined when they are placed. Physical Specifies the real-world distance represented by the separation of two points on the drawing grid, expressed in units defined by the setting of the dropdown list to the right. Enter a value from 0 to 100. Mandatory. Grid Specifies the distance between two points of the drawing grid as it is represented when printed, expressed in units defined by the setting of the dropdown list to the right. Enter a value from 0 to 100. Mandatory. |
| Apply orthogonal alignment to bundles | Applies an orthogonal layout to the bundles on the new diagram. See Automatic Bundle Layout Default is cleared. You cannot apply an orthogonal alignment to the bundles if the Bundle Option “Create all looped bundles as flex bundles” is selected. This check box is dimmed in such cases. |

Usage Notes
The option to create full scale diagrams is a licensed operation; if you do not have the required license, these options are unavailable. Note also that once a diagram has been created to full scale, it is not possible to edit these settings, nor can you edit a non-full scale diagram to enable these options.
Full scale bundle widths are not displayed until engineering calculations have been run, as this is necessary to calculate the bundle diameters.
If you intend to bridge in external data containing clocking information, this option must be selected to ensure the preservation of backshell dogleg lengths when making changes to bundle lengths. See also “Clocking” in the Bridging Data In and Out of Capital User Guide.
