Crossover Points on Schematic Diagrams

Different industries follow specific graphical representations of crossover points for conductors and fluid lines. Capital Logic Designer provides flexible crossover styling options to help you create industry‑compliant schematic diagrams.

The system automatically maintains crossover styling throughout your design lifecycle, from creation through release.

Crossover points occur where lines cross without forming an electrical connection. By default, unconnected crossovers are represented as solid crossing lines and splices show electrical connectivity. However, you can also customize these representations to make your schematic wiring easier to interpret.

Understanding Crossover Points and Their Behavior

The graphical styling of crossover points helps you distinguish between connected and unconnected line crossings on your diagrams. The system automatically monitors and manages these points, updating their coordinates whenever you modify your design by rotating, cutting and pasting, moving objects, or using auto-routing features.

Note

The line with the larger outside diameter is always displayed as the continuous line and the break or bridge is displayed on the line with the smaller outside diameter.

If no diameter values are specified or the values match, the horizontal line is displayed as the continuous line.

You can configure the size and shape of the crossover points that represent the following design objects:

• Wires

• Fluid lines

• Nets

• Shields

• Highways

• Single lines

The size of the shape is determined by the crossoverSize styling parameter value which is relative to the grid size on the diagram. See also Configuring Crossover Point Styles.

To maintain visual harmony, crossover points also inherit the graphic attributes from their crossing lines, including thickness, color schemes, and style patterns.

When you Print to a File or create Reports and Diagrams in Capital Workspace or Capital E/E Reporter, the crossover styles are rendered correctly in the following outputs:

• PDF

• SVG

• DXF

• CGM
