Project Preferences for Cross-References

By default, the display of cross-references is based on style set settings. However, you can also use the project preferences to determine how cross-references are displayed.

You can set cross-reference project preferences for devices, plugs, jacks, inlines, ring terminals, blocks, wires, nets, splices, highways, single lines, and pins.

Caution

The project preferences method of controlling the display of cross-references is intended to support legacy user-flow cases only. The recommended best practice is that the style set method is used. See “Cross-Reference Text Decorations” in the Capital Diagram Styling User Guide.

Prerequisites

• Clear the Use Style Set Cross-reference check box in the Diagram project preference (selected by default when you create a new project).

Procedure

1. Press the space bar and enter Project Preferences.The Project Preferences Dialog Box is displayed.

2. Expand the Capital Logic Designer node, and then expand the object type node for the following objects to set cross‑reference project preferences:Conductor — Controls cross-references on wires and nets.

Highway — Controls cross-references on highways.

Pin — Control cross-references on pins.

Pin List — Controls cross-references on devices, plugs, jacks, inlines, ring terminals, blocks, and splices.

						Single Line —
							Controls cross-references on single lines.

3. Select the Cross-reference node and specify the following options:Show Select to display cross-references for this object type.

Limit references per line Select and specify the maximum number of cross-references that are displayed on each line. Clear to display all cross-references for an object instance on the same line.

Limit lines per block Select and specify the maximum the number of cross-references that are displayed in each block of cross-references. Clear to display all cross‑references for an object instance in a single block. If selected, and the number of cross-references for an object instance divided by the number of cross‑references permitted on each line exceeds the value you have specified for this setting, the cross-references are displayed in multiple blocks. If you move a cross-reference in a block to another location on a diagram, all of the cross-references in that block move with it, but cross-references in other blocks do not move.

Template Specify the format of the cross-references. See “Project Preferences Dialog Box” for a description of the available formats. Note When you create a new project, the following default templates are added to the project preferences: Conductor: /{design.name}:{diagram.name}:{pin.name}[ {zone.name}][ :{equiv.name}] Highway: /{design.name}:{diagram.name}[ {zone.name}] Pin: /{design.name}:{diagram.name}[ {zone.name}] Pin List: /{design.name}:{diagram.name}[ {zone.name}]

								Single Line: /{design.name}:{diagram.name}[
									{zone.name}]

Delimiter If you are enabling more than one cross‑reference on each line, specify a text string to place between cross‑references on the same line.

4. For each object type to display cross-references for, expand the Cross-reference node and select the Text node.

5. Specify values for the font, font style, font height, and justification of the cross-reference text.

6. Click OK.
