Variant Generation by Derivative
You can use the Generate Production Technical Variance process to derive the variance of each Production Module based on the configuration of derivatives impacting each module.
When you have candidate production modules, see “Adding Content to the PM Browser”, you can run a simulation or a full generation using the Generate / Simulate Production Technical Variations Dialog Box, or the Module Explorer Dialog Box to generate by derivative instead of module code. Select the Derivative setting.

The generation process identifies affected derivatives from the option expressions assigned to the wires in the PM candidate. Once known, a PM Technical Variant code is created using the following convention PMCODE+TPM+n. For example, where the PM code name is PM001 and the tech code prefix is V, technical codes are created as follows, PM001V01, PM001V02, and so on.

An object may exist against one or more derivatives. It is possible that the process generates Macro Codes to replace two or more codes that always appear together.
Once you have run full generation, the process creates a combination family, see Figure 473, with all the codes are added. As all codes are mutually exclusive to all other codes, the number of variations is the same as the number of codes added to the combination.
