Adding an Instance of a Shared Multicore or Overbraid
Inner Core Wire or Net
You can add an instance of a shared multicore or overbraid inner core wire or net to a diagram.
Note
You can use this procedure to add additional instances of the wires and nets in a shared multicore or overbraid, and to add the first instance of each wire and net of a shared multicore created in Capital Project Manager. See “Shared Multicore” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide to create shared multicores in Capital Project Manager.
Prerequisites
- The shared multicore or overbraid that must already exist in the project and the inner core to add an instance of must already be added to the multicore or overbraid. See Promoting a Multicore or Overbraid or Creating a Shared Multicore or Overbraid.

Procedure
- In the Shared Objects Browser: Right-click the inner core wire or net to add an instance of and select Add Shared Wire or Add Shared Net.
Double-click the inner core wire or net to add an instance of.
Alternatively, in the Design Browser: Right-click the inner core wire or net to add an instance of and select Add As Wire or Add As Net.
Note The system creates Wires or Nets for the conductors based on the configured Design Abstraction (if set) or the project preference Default Conductor Type (when no abstraction assigned).
The cursor changes to or , depending on the type of shared conductor being added.
Click where to place the first end of the conductor.
To define sections of the conductor, click where you want each section to end.
To place the end point of the conductor, double‑click or click and then right‑click and selecting Commit.
Results
The shared object instance is added to the diagram.
In the Design Browser the new instance of the shared object is shown as a child node of the shared object.
Note
By default indicators span the space between the conductors in the multicore / overbraid. If the conductors in the multicore / overbraid are too far apart the indicators will be split. You can use the Toggle Indicators action to change whether or not indicators are split. See Toggling Multicore and Overbraid Indicators. You must add a shield termination to shielded multicores and to overbraids. See Adding a Shield Termination.
When you create more than one instance of a shared object, cross-references are displayed next to the instances on the diagrams. See also Cross-References on Objects or Pins.
