Extending a Selection

When you select certain types of object in the Design Browser or a diagram, you can extend the selection to include associated objects.

Used on the following types of object:

• Assembly — Selects all objects in the assembly.

• Graphical shape or graphic object associated with a section of a wire, net, shield termination, highway, or associated with a device, plug, jack, inline, ring terminal, splice, block, or multicore / overbraid indicator: If there is only one graphical shape or graphical object associated with the object, with each use of the action the items in the following table are selected in sequence.

If there is more than one graphical shape or graphical object associated with the object the first time you use the action, the other associated graphical shapes and graphical objects are selected. For any subsequent use of the action, the items in the table below are selected in sequence.

The other indicator on the multicore/overbraid plus any graphical shapes or graphical objects associated with it, and the conductors in the multicore/overbraid

• Comment graphic or comment symbol associated with an assembly — Use the action once to select all associated graphics and symbols, use the action twice to also select the assembly objects.

• Conductor group — Selects the contents of the conductor group.

• Device — Selects all pins on the device.

• Connector — Selects all pins on the connector.

• Conductor segment — Selects all other segments of the conductor.

• Pin — Selects the object to which the pin belongs and all other pins on the object.

Procedure

Select an object in the Design Browser or on the diagram:

• Press the space bar and enter Extend Selection.

• Press Ctrl+E.

• Right-click and select Extend Selection.

Tip

To extend the selection on multiple objects simultaneously, select multiple objects in the Design Browser or diagram before you press the space bar and enter Extend Selection, press Ctrl+E, or right‑click and select Extend Selection.

Results

The associated objects are selected in the Design Browser and the diagram.
