Editing a Value Table for a Signal

You can add, edit or delete value pairs in a signal's value table in Capital Dictionary.

Prerequisites

• In order to edit information, the table in the Signals panel must be unlocked.
• The webclient/configuration/dictionary/functionalsignalproperties.json file must contain an entry for Value Table and Length [Bit]. That is, the signals in Capital Dictionary must also have a Length [Bit] column. See "Value Table".

Procedure

1. In the Signals panel, locate the signal and click the View/Modify Value Table icon; a "Value Table for signal" screen displays.
2. Determine how you want to edit the value pairs.

Adding a new value pair

1. Click the icon above the value table to create a new value pair; the system adds a row for the new entry.
2. Specify a value and description for the value pair. For example: a Value of 01 with Description of "Lights ON" or a Value of 02 with Description of "Lights OFF".

Remove a value pair

1. Select the value pair by clicking the tick at the start of the row; the "Delete selected row(s)" action becomes enabled.
2. Click the "Delete selected row(s)" icon; the system removes the value pair.

Edit a value pair

1. Click in the Value or Description field and edit the string as required.

   CAUTION: The entered value must not exceed the number of bits defined in the Length [Bit] value for the signal. You can enter the number either in decimal or hexadecimal. Therefore, if the Length [Bit] value is equal to 4 then valid entries are: 0-15 decimal, 0x0 - 0x0F hexadecimal. The value turns red if you enter a value outside the allowed range. If no value exists for the Length [Bit], then you cannot add value pairs. If you change the Length [Bit] value to be lower than the highest value pair that already exists, you must correct the value table.

2. Click OK.

Results

The value pairs are available when the signal is used in other applications.

When a signal has entries in a value table and you associate that signal with a message, the value table pairs display as a string in that message: 1 "Lights ON" 2 "Lights Off".

When a signal has entries in a value table and you associate that signal with a functional signal in Capital Capture, the value table pairs display as a string for the functional signal.

Tip: Column visibility can be controlled by clicking the icon and ticking which columns you wish to show or hide. You can apply a sort order to any column in the table by clicking V in the column header. Available sort orders are ascending or descending. You can also pin the selected column to the left or right of the screen for viewing across large table entries by clicking Pin Left or Pin Right. The sort order and column pin can be removed by clicking x.
