Merging Wires and Multicores
The merge process uses a set of criteria to decide whether the selected wire/multicore on the member design and the target bundle on the merged design are equal, similar or different.
Rules
for Wires
The wires on the member and merged design must have the same:
Library part number and revision.
Connector and cavity terminations at both ends.
Value in the wire attribute “Part of Multicore”.
Wire names. See, “Consider Wire Names Control”.

for Multicores
The multicores on the member and merged design must have the same:
Library part number and revision.
Innercore part number and revision (In-house multicores).
Connector and cavity terminations at both ends.
Inner core wire names. See, “Consider Wire Names Control”.
Consider
Wire Names Control
You can optionally exclude wires and multicore inner wires from the wire names rule by using the Consider Wire Name setting on the Formboard Manager Ribbon Tab.

When Consider Wire Names option is selected, the merge process uses this rule and wire names must match.
When Consider Wire Names option is cleared, wire names are ignored (connectivity is checked).
Duplicate
Wires In Browser
There can be cases where the same wire displays multiple times in the Harness Design Browser, for example, due to multiple existing end points on a merged formboard where you have placed or duplicated bundles.
For example, Figure 377 shows two placed bundles that have equal content apart from different connector part numbers. Wire W2 is shown twice in the Harness Design browser.

Multicore Example Scenarios
Where multicore part numbers are different in the member designs, the process duplicates them in the merged design and two instances of the multicore display in the Harness Design browser. See Figure 379.

Figure 380 shows a multicore with a difference in connectivity where only one end of an innercore has a different termination. In this case, only one instance of multicore is shown in the Harness Design browser but multiple ends of the wire are displayed. This is a multi-ended multicore.

Where both end of some innercores have different terminations, the process duplicates them in the same multicore. Figure 381 shows two instance of such innercores inside multicore in the Harness Design browser.

Figure 382 shows the case where both ends of all innercores have different terminations. The process duplicates the multicore in the merged design and two instance of multicore are displayed in the Harness Design browser.
