Assigning and Editing Domains on a User Account
You can assign and edit domains for a user account.
Caution
If you manage an account in Derived Access Control mode, you cannot assign and edit domains directly in the user account. The user groups to which the account belong enforce the domains for it. See Derived Access Control.
Prerequisites
- Open the Edit User Account Dialog Box. See Edit User Account Dialog Box.
Procedure
- On the Read-Only Domains tab, select the domain(s) in which the user can view but not edit designs in the Available box. Click the Add button. Alternatively, you can click the Add All button to assign all domains to the Selected box.If a domain is assigned to a project and that domain is assigned to a user (with Project Administration permissions) as a read-only domain, the user: can open the project in any application.
cannot change any project level settings regardless of what permission settings the user has.
cannot edit design folders in the project.
cannot change the contents of any design level settings. Project designs with no explicit domain setting are read-only for the user.
can edit a design if that design has an explicit read/write domain setting that overrides the project’s read-only domain setting.
cannot create any new designs in the project.
cannot use the project as a target project for an action.
cannot copy designs within the project.
cannot modify shared objects.
cannot create options.
On the Read-Write Domains tab, select the domain(s) in which the user can view and edit designs in the Available box. Click the Add button. Alternatively, you can click the Add All button to assign all domains to the Selected box.Note You can unassign a domain by selecting it in the Selected box and clicking the Remove button. Alternatively, you can unassign all domains in the Selected box by clicking the Remove All button.
If you do not wish to create or edit the options on the other tabs, click the OK button to save the domains and leave the Edit User Account dialog or, click the Apply button to save the domains and keep the dialog open.
