New Generated Diagrams
Dialog Box
To access:
Right-click a design in the Project Browser window and select Generate Diagrams.
The dialog box automatically displays during the Import Connectivity process if you select Diagram Generation. If you are importing multiple files, the Diagrams tab does not display. See “Importing Connectivity” in the Capital Connectors User Guide for information about the process.
When you use Capital Schematic Generator for Functional Designs to generate diagrams for a design, this dialog box is used to specify the generated diagrams, the data contained in them, and the component and layout styling.

| Export | Exports the settings of all fields on all tabs of this dialog box to a configuration file. See Exporting Configuration Settings for further details. |
| Import | Select to import a configuration file which will automatically complete all fields on all tabs of this dialog box with your saved settings. See Importing Configuration Settings for further details. |
| Diagrams Tab | Used to specify the content of the generated diagrams when you use Capital Schematic Generator for Functional Designs to generate diagrams for a design. Only available if you have a Capital Schematic Generator for Functional Designs filter license. |
| Imported Designs | Select the projects to import the connectivity files from multiple projects in a single run. See also “Importing Multiple Connectivity Files and Automatically Creating Diagrams” in the Capital Connectors User Guide. Only available using the Import (Bridge In) Connectivity. |
| Available Connectivity | Lists the available data in the design that can be distributed across diagrams. Select the connectivity objects required to distribute to the selected Target Diagram. All Connectivity — Lists all connectivity objects in the design. Undistributed Connectivity — Lists only connectivity objects not yet distributed on diagrams. Signals — Lists all signals in the connectivity, and the function ports to which they connect. The brackets list the diagrams on which the conductors, and signals are found. Configurations — Lists all connectivity objects in the design, grouped under the configuration for which they are active. Diagram Name — Lists all the connectivity objects in the specific diagram. When selecting from the Available Connectivity field, if you select an object with child objects they are distributed too. Any component or connectivity currently selected in the Available Connectivity treeview will display highlighted in red in the Selection Preview Dialog Box. |
| View | Opens the Selection Preview Dialog Box, and displays a read-only version of the diagram selected in the Available Connectivity field. Optional, enabled only if the selected diagram already exists. |
| Distribution by | Select the distribution type to distribute the connectivity: Prototype Applies the distribution of connectivity used in the template (prototype) selected on the Prototype tab to the distribution on the Diagrams tab. Removes any diagrams that do not yet exist from the Target diagram field, and removes any existing distributions on the Diagrams tab. A diagram is created for each diagram in the template, and the connectivity objects are distributed to match the template. If the Target Diagram field contains existing diagrams whose names match the names of the template diagrams, the new diagrams are given unique names. Optional, enabled only if you have a template (prototype) selected on the Prototype tab. Property Applies the distribution of connectivity objects across one or more diagrams based on object property values. This distribution is followed by rule-based schematic generation, providing an auto-layout of functions and ports. Selecting this enables the second dropdown in the Distribution by box where you select the property that you want to use. It also enables the Distribute button. For an example of distributing objects by property value, see Usage Example of Distributing Objects by Property. |
| Add | Adds the selected objects in the Available Connectivity tree to the Target Diagram tree so they are distributed to the selected Target Diagram. If a diagram is selected in the Available Connectivity tree, the objects remain distributed to that diagram as well as to the selected Target Diagram. Optional. |
| Move | Moves the selected objects in the Available Connectivity tree to the Target Diagram tree so that they are distributed to the selected Target Diagram. The selected objects are removed from any diagrams to which they have been distributed previously. Optional. |
| Remove | Moves the selected objects in the Target Diagram tree to the Available Connectivity tree so that they are no longer distributed to the selected Target Diagram. If a selected object has child objects, they are removed too. Associated objects are not removed (for example, the ports connected to a signal). Optional. |
| Remove All | Moves all connectivity objects in the Target Diagram tree to the Available Connectivity tree so that they are no longer distributed to the selected Target Diagram. Optional. |
| Auto Complete | Auto complete allocates undistributed connectivity onto the target diagram. For example within a design, if functions are moved or added to a new target diagram and Auto Complete is selected, the corresponding signals and messages are also distributed to the target diagram. |
| Target Diagram | Specifies the name of a diagram that is generated. The tree below the dropdown list displays the connectivity objects distributed to that diagram. When you create multiple diagrams, select a diagram from the dropdown list to edit the connectivity objects that are distributed to it. Mandatory. |
| Regenerate diagram | Select to regenerate existing diagrams using current styling and layout settings. |
| Create a new diagram | Displays the New Diagram Dialog Box where you specify the name and properties of a new diagram to be generated. The diagram name is added to the dropdown list in the Target Diagram field. Optional. |
| Edit diagram properties | Displays the Edit Diagram Dialog Box (Capital Schematic Generator for Functional Designs) where you edit the name and properties of a new diagram to be generated. The diagram name is added to the dropdown list in the Target Diagram field. Optional. |
| Delete diagram | Removes the selected diagram name in the Target Diagram field. Any distribution of connectivity objects to that diagram is undone. Optional. |

| Component Styling Tab | Used to specify the required styling to use for objects on the generated diagrams. By default, Capital Schematic Generator for Functional Designs uses the Default style set for Capital Systems Modeler. If you have a license to use Capital Styling, you can click the Style Set dropdown list to select a different style set, if available. Refer to the Diagram Styling User Guide for full information about the style set configuration options displayed on this tab and how to edit them. |

| Layout Styling Tab | Used to specify the required styling to use for layout of objects on the generated diagrams. |
| Choose Layout | Set the layout of the components, ports and signals on the diagram to flow: Basic Horizontal Layout (left to right) Largest Function Led Vertical Layout Direction Based Layout For a description of each type of layout, see Layout Styling Types When Generating Diagrams. |
| Port Spacing | Specify the number of pin grids between ports on a function. |
| Vertical Function Spacing | Specify the number of pin grids between functions when placed vertically from each other. |
| Function Width | Specify the minimum width in pin grids for a function. |
| Use Device Symbols | Select to specify whether device symbols in the design are retained and displayed on the generated diagram using the associated symbols in the symbol library. Enables options that control how differences between design symbols and the library symbols are generated. See Specifying Layout Styling When Generating Diagrams for a detailed description of the available options. |
| Minimum Signal/Message Length | Specify the minimum distance in pin grids that can exist between any two functions that are connected by a signal or message. If a greater length is specified, more white space is added between objects on the diagram. |
| Horizontal Function Spacing | Specify the number of pin grids between functions when placed horizontally from each other. |

| Prototype Tab | Used to specify an existing design as a template for the generated diagrams. Any connectivity objects (functions, signals, messages) in the current design matching connectivity in the selected Prototype design, adopts the layout from the template. Any unmatched connectivity in the current design is laid out automatically. Existing diagrams that have had connectivity added or removed are deleted and new diagrams are created (where there are connectivity objects distributed to them). If a design (for which diagrams have to be generated) and the template are revisions of the same design, connectivity objects are matched by revisions. Otherwise, connectivity objects are matched by name. | From Project | Displays a list of all projects that are available to be used as a Prototype. |
| Select Design Prototype | Displays all designs of the project currently selected in the From Project panel that are available for selection as a Prototype. |
