Replacing a Multicore or Overbraid Indicator with a Comment Symbol

To add a comment symbol to a diagram, so that it replaces a multicore or overbraid indicator. Shield terminations can be hooked up to datums on the comment symbol:

Procedure

1. In Capital Symbol Designer, create a comment symbol that you want as the indicator. Specify a Symbol Type of Comment, when creating it.

2. Add two attribute datums to the symbol that you want to use as indicator hookups (that is, where a shield would connect in the diagram). When doing this, in the Add Attribute Datum dialog, select an Object Type of Indicator and the Name attribute.

3. Save the symbol.

4. In Capital E/E Publisher menu, press Space Bar and enter Refresh Symbol Libraries to refresh the symbol library data.

5. Right-click on the indicator in the diagram, and then select Add Comment Symbol; the Symbol Selection Dialog appears.

6. Select the comment symbol that you created, and then click OK; the comment symbol appears next to the cursor.

7. Move the cursor to position the symbol, and then click to place it.

8. Remove the old indicator manually by doing the following:Right-click on it, and then select Properties; the Edit Properties dialog appears. Click the Parameters tab, and then expand the Shield body node. Delete the Param: top, Param: center and Param: bottom parameters by right-clicking on them, and then selecting Remove. Click OK to exit.

Results

The original indicator is removed from the diagram, the comment symbol now functions as the indicator, and the datums function as the indicator hookups.
