Backshells

A backshell is a connector accessory that has multiple purposes. Backshells enforce a direction that the wires enter the connector, in addition to often providing strain relief to the wires. Backshells can also be used for shield terminations since the backshell provides a conductive path to the connector housing.

Note

If your only requirement is to add strain relief or enforce a wire-entry direction to a connector using a non-electrically connected adaptor, it should be added as an additional component of the connector. See the section detailing the Additional Components Tab Dialog Boxfor information on how to do this.
