Placing Pins and Backshell
Terminations
The Fetch Related functionality enables you to complete connectivity by placing any unplaced pins, reference instances of pins, and duplicate instances of stud pins on both non-shared and shared objects. If a device, plug, jack or inline has a library part associated with it you can place pins from the library part definition onto the object. You can also place an existing backshell termination.
Prerequisites
You have brought in related connectivity to a diagram and the pins or backshell terminations that you want to place on the object already exist.
All pins must be unrestricted in order to be placed using the Place Pin action
Procedure
- Do one of the following:Select the object. Press Space Bar and enter Place Pin.
Right-click the object and select Place Pin.
Select the object and press P.
The Place Pins Dialog Box displays.
In the Select Pins table, select the pins you want to place on the object. To select multiple pins hold down the Ctrl key while selecting. If you choose to place pins individually, when you are placing pins on the diagram they will appear in the order in which you selected them in the table.
Choose whether you want to place pins Individually or As Group then click Place.Note If pins are placed as reference, the Fetch Related action can not be executed for them.
The cursor changes to . Circles indicate locations on the object where you can place the pin(s) and dotted gray lines/boxes indicate locations outside the object where you can place the pin(s).
If you are placing pins individually move the cursor over the location where you want to place a pin. If you are placing pins as a group move the cursor over the location where you want to place the first pin of the group. The cursor changes to .
Click to place the pin(s).
If you are placing multiple pins individually, repeat Steps 4 and 5.
Results
The pin(s) or terminations are placed on the device. The object stretches to include any pins placed outside its boundaries.
