Share Dialog Box [Functions]

To access: Select a function and press Space Bar and enter Share, then select Home > Sharing > Share from the Search Ribbon dropdown list. Alternatively, right-click a function and select Share

Used to promote a function to be a shared object.

Objects

Field Description
Shared Function tab Create New Select to create a new shared object. Name The name for the new shared object. The contents of this field are displayed in red if they are not unique within the project. Revision Specifies the version of the shared object, allowing multiple updated versions of the same shared object to exist in the database. See Creating a New Revision of a Shared Object for further information about shared object revisions. Share Into Select to make the object being promoted an instance of an existing shared object. Shared objects list Lists the all the existing shared functions that exist in the project.
Associate Ports tab Used to associate ports on the new instance of the shared object with either the new shared object definition (when creating a new shared object) or the existing shared object definition (when sharing into an existing shared object). Ports that an association has not yet been created for are displayed in bold. Selected Instance list or Symbol list Lists the ports on the object being promoted. Shared Object list Lists the ports in the shared object definition of the new shared object that will be created (when creating a new shared object) or in the shared object definition of the existing shared object (when sharing into an existing shared object). Ports that can be associated with a port in the Selected Instance list or Symbol list are displayed in bold; unrestricted ports are displayed in bold and italics. Ports that cannot be associated with a port in the Selected Instance list or Symbol list are displayed with a gray background. Ports in the Shared Object list cannot be associated with a port in the Selected Instance list or Symbol list when: The port is reserved for use in a design other than the current design. The port is an automatic port placed on an instance of the shared object in another design and the current design is outside the active build list. The current design is in the active build list and the port is an automatic port that was placed on an instance of the shared object in a design that is not in the active build list and was deleted from the object instance, and that design has not been saved since the port was deleted.
Associate Ports tab (continued) See “Port Reservation Status” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide for further information about automatic, reserved and unrestricted ports. Select a port in the Selected Instance list or Symbol list then, in the Shared Object list, select the ports that you want to associate it with and click Associate. Alternatively, click Associate All to automatically associate each of the ports in Selected Instance list or Symbol list with a port in the Shared Object list. When you Associate All, if there are ports in the Selected Instance list or Symbol list that do not have ports in the Shared Object list that they can be associated with, a warning is displayed explaining that new ports will be created. Either click OK to create new ports, or click Cancel. Click New to add a new port. The Add Shared Ports Dialog Box displays. Select a port and click Delete to delete it or Rename to rename it. Unavailable when sharing into an existing shared object until an existing shared object has been selected in the Share Into shared objects list.
Port Reservations tab Lists ports with reservation status of either Reserved or Automatic in the Automatic Reservations list. Lists ports with reservation status of Unrestricted in the Unrestricted Ports list. To change a port’s reservation status to Unrestricted, select it in the Automatic Reservations list and click Add. To change the reservation status of all the ports to Unrestricted click Add All. To move a port that you have just added to the Unrestricted Ports list to the Automatic Reservations list select it and click Remove. To move all the ports you have just added to the Unrestricted Ports list to the Automatic Reservations list click Remove All. Unavailable when creating a new shared object if no ports have been added to the object being promoted. Unavailable when sharing into an existing shared object if there are no ports in the existing shared object’s shared object definition.
