Module Explorer Dialog Box
Any differences in the functions of the Functional Module Explorer and the Production Module Explorer tabs are noted. To access: Click the View Module Explorer icon () on either the FM Codes / PM Codes tab, to open the Functional / Production Module Explorer in the Output Window. You can also press Ctrl when clicking the View Module Explorer icon, to use the dialog box in floating mode.
Use the Module Explorer in conjunction with View Module Content icon and dimming slider to view the contents of folders and manipulate the assignation of objects on your design in a preview display, prior to committing to the changes.

You can use the following methods to add content to the Module Explorer:
Select one or more valid objects on the diagram, right-click and select Add to PM Code Explorer (Applicable to Production Module Explorer only).
Drag and drop between the Module Code browser tabs and the Module Explorer You can select an entire module code folder, including the Unassigned objects folder. Alternatively, you may select an object sub-folder, such as wires or connectors.

| Remove Selected | Click to remove all selected objects from the Module Explorer. |
| Remove Unselected | Click to remove all unselected objects from the Module Explorer. |
| Add Unassigned Wires | With a one or more connectors or splices selected, click to add any unassigned wires that terminate in the connector or splice, to the Module Explorer display. |
| Add Bundle Components | Only displays on the Production Module browser. Enabled if one or more wires are displayed in the PM Code Explorer table. This action first analyzes all wires currently added to the PM Explorer table to determine the nodes in all wire paths. The process then checks each node and adds any component to the table if all the wires at the component locations are present in the table. Additionally, any existing mechanical components in the table are removed if any wires at their locations are not present in the table. |
| Simulate Variations | Only displays on the Production Module browser. Enabled only when the Production Module Explorer browser contains one or more wires. This action runs a simulation of the Generate Production Technical Variations action. The action does not create actual combinations or technical variant codes, but instead calculates what variants would be created based on the module codes and relationships assigned to the wires in the current input set displayed in the PM browser. The action outputs the details on the Technical Variations tab as in Figure 485. You can decide if the content of the PM browser tab creates an acceptable number of variations. See Generating Production Technical Variations |
| Plug Variance Management | Only displays on the Production Module browser. Enabled only when the Production Module Explorer browser contains one or more connectors that require cavity plugs. See “Plugs Required” in Add Connector Dialog Box. Click to open the Plug Variance Management Dialog Box where you can configure automatic inclusion of plugs in the variant module generation. See also Plug Variance Management. |
| Module Code / Derivative | Only displays on the Production Module browser. Module Code / Derivative Radio buttons — Select to configure variation generation to use module code or derivatives. The Module Code variation generation mechanism uses function codes and relationships to drive the variation. See Generating Production Technical Variations. Derivative based variation generation uses option expressions on the wires to determine which derivatives are applicable to each variant. See also Variant Generation by Derivative. When the mode is set to Derivative, the FM Expression column is replaced by a Derivatives column. This column shows the applicable derivatives for each row in the table. |

| Icon | Displays the icon of the component. Click the header cell to sort the table display with wires grouped hierarchically under the object in which they terminate. |

| From Comp / To Comp | Only displays on the Production Module browser. The components at each end of the wire. The system designates the “From” / “To” components to aid visualization in the table, they are not necessarily End1 / End 2 of the wire. |

| Wire Color | Only displays on the Production Module browser. Wire color. |

| Multicore | Only displays on the Production Module browser. Name of the wire multicore parent (where applicable). |
| Assembly | Only displays on the Production Module browser. Name of the assembly that contains the component in this row. |
| Length | Only displays on the Production Module browser. Wire length (Modified Length attribute value). |
| Take Rate | Only displays on the Production Module browser. Take rate value of the codes reported in the FM expression column. If multiple codes are used against a wire (exclusive codes), the multiple take rate value is reported. For example: FM expression = FM1 / FM2 Take rate = 20 / 40 (in the same order as the FM codes). |
| FM/PM Expression | The functional or production module code of the object. |
| Num of Cavities | The number of cavities in the selected connector/splice. |
| Num Wires | The number of wires that terminate at the selected connector/splice. |
| Num Unassigned Wires | The number of wires that terminate at the selected connector/splice that are not assigned to a functional or production module. |
| FM Expression | Only displays on the Production Module browser when you have selected the Module Code radio button. The FM Code assigned to the object. |
| Option Expression | Only displays on the Production Module browser when you have selected the Derivative radio button. The option expression assigned to the object. |
Usage Notes

You can sort on any of the column headings. For example, you could choose to display the object with the highest number of unassigned wires at the top of the Module Explorer.
You can drag objects back out of the Module Explorer to the Module Code browser tabs to assign them to a requisite module code, or change their assignation. Pressing the Ctrl key while dragging the object, copies it to the target module code and it is this code that is attached to any, and all objects selected. If no button is pressed during the drag and drop action, the object is reassigned to the target module code and any previous assignations are replaced.
During any object assignation process, the module relationships are checked to ensure that any change to the assigned module codes respects relationships already defined at system or project level.
