Assigning Domains on Shared

Objects

You can select which domains to associate with shared objects when you create or edit a shared object in Capital Logic Designer or Capital Project Manager.

Restrictions and Limitations

• No domain access — You cannot open or export designs containing shared objects with a domain assigned.

• Read-only domain access — You can open designs but cannot edit shared objects with a domain assigned.

• Read-only or no domain access — You can share objects but cannot assign domains.

• Read-only or no domain access — You cannot edit shared objects with a domain assigned.

• You must use Capital Project Manager to assign domains on shared conductors (wires and nets).

• You cannot assign domains on the following shared objects: Highways

• You cannot assign domains on shared overbraids in Capital Project Manager.

• The procedure to open the Shared object dialog boxes and apply the changes in the Assign Domains dialog box differs slightly if you are editing a shared object in Capital Project Manager or creating (promoting) a shared object in Capital Logic Designer.

Prerequisites

• Domains are created in Capital Access Manager. See “Domains” in the Capital Access Manager User Guide.

• Read-write access is assigned to the domains on your user account. See “Assigning and Editing Domains on a User Account” in the Capital Access Manager User Guide.

• The domains to assign to the shared objects are specified at the project level in the “Allowed Domains for Parts, Symbol libraries, ICDs and Shared Objects” project preference. See “General Project Preferences Applicable to all Applications” in the Capital Design Tools - Common Functions User Guide.

Procedure

1. From the Project Browser or on the diagram, right-click a shared object and select Edit Shared object.The dialog box for the selected object type is displayed. See also Edit Shared Dialog Boxes.

2. Click the Domains ellipsis button (...).The Assign Domains Dialog Box displays the domains you have access to, and the domains that are assigned to the shared object.

3. Select a domain in the Available or Selected panel, and then click the following buttons to specify which domains to assign to the shared object.Add

4. Click OK.The assigned domain name is displayed in the Domain field in the Edit Shared object dialog box.

5. Click OK to apply the domains.

6. Click Save to confirm the update to the shared object, or Cancel to delete your changes.

Results

• The shared object is available only to user accounts with read-write domain access on the domain assigned on the shared object.
