Adding a Dressed Ring Terminal

If you use the same ring terminal part number in different forms (for example, with the eyelet straight or manually bent to a different angle) you can add a ring terminal with dressed routes. This enables you to specify differing wire add-on and knock off values to take account of the differing forms.

Prerequisites

• A Ring Terminal part which has routes configured against it on the Dressed Routes tab is available for you to select. The Dressed Routes tab does not display by default for ring terminals. You must use the Capital Component Manager Configurable User Interface to enable the display of this tab. This video shows you how to do this. See also “Editing the Tabs and Fields for Components Belonging to a Component Group” and “Type Codes (Component Group Level)” in the Capital Component Manager User Guide.

Procedure

1. Select the Ribbon action (alternatively, press Space Bar and enter Ring Terminal or press Ctrl+Shift+T)The cursor changes to .

2. Click to place the ring terminal:If you click a node, the ring terminal is placed, anchored at that node.

If you click an empty area of the design, a new structure node is created at which the ring terminal is anchored.

The Add Ring Terminal Dialog Box is displayed.

3. Add a Name and Short Description as required.

4. Click the ellipsis (...) button to the right of the Library Part field.The Part Selection Dialog Box is displayed to search for the dressed ring terminal from the library. The associated ring terminal part number will be displayed in the Library Part field.

5. Click the Routes tab and select the required route from the Route dropdown list.

6. Click OK.Note A warning message is displayed if you have added a ring terminal from a ring terminal family (a ring terminal with child ring terminals configured in its housing definition) and there is a mismatch between the dressed routes of the parent and child.

Results

• The ring terminal is added to the Harness Design Browser under its own Ring Terminals folder.

• The ring terminal is placed onto the design. By default, styling will display the following ring terminal entities: The component part number.

The name of the Route you selected on the Add Ring Terminal dialog box Routes tab.

A connector cavity table.

Any symbol associated with the ring terminal. Note The ring terminal entities listed comprise the default offering as dictated by the default style set shipped with Capital Harness Designer. Both the entities displayed, and the appearance of those entities, can be modified. See also “Related Entity Decorations” in the Capital Diagram Styling User Guide.
