Using Clips and Grommets
You can place clips and grommets on a harness diagram by associating a part from the library. Once added, you can edit, move, and delete them as required.
Procedure
Determine the action you want to take:

| Add a Clip or Grommet | To add a clip, press Space Bar and enter Clip. The cursor changes to . To add a grommet, press Space Bar and enter Grommet. The cursor changes to . Click to place the clip / grommet: If you click a node, the clip / grommet is placed, anchored at that node. If you hover the cursor over a bundle, a tooltip displays the distance between the cursor position and the adjacent node in the direction of the start of the bundle. The Node Position Utility Dialog Box is displayed to fine-tune the position of the reference node created to anchor the clip / grommet to the bundle. You can also enable variant positioning and anchor the clip / grommet at any reference node on the same bundle. See also “Variant Position Reference Nodes” in the Node Position Utility dialog box. The Add Clip Dialog Box or Add Grommet Dialog Box is displayed. Note If you press Ctrl when you place the component, the Add Clip / Grommet dialog box is not displayed. Click the ellipsis (...) button to the right of the Library Part field. The Part Selection Dialog Box is displayed to search for and insert a clip / grommet from the library. The associated clip / grommet is displayed in the Library Part field. Click OK to place the clip / grommet on the diagram. The following entities are displayed: The component part number Any Name assigned to the clip / grommet Any symbol associated with the clip / grommet Note The entities listed comprise the default offering as dictated by the style set shipped with Capital Harness Designer / Modular. You can modify the entities displayed and the appearance of those entities. See also the Capital Diagram Styling User Guide. |
| Edit a Clip or Grommet | Select one of the entities related to the clip / grommet: Reference node at which the clip / grommet is placed. Clip / grommet symbol. Either: Press Space Bar and enter Edit. Right-click the selected entity and select Edit Clip / Grommet. Double-click one of the related entities. The Edit Clip Dialog Box or Edit Grommet Dialog Box is displayed. Modify the attributes or properties. Click OK. |
| Move a Clip or Grommet | Right-click one of the following entities related to the clip / grommet and select Move Clip / Grommet. Reference node at which the clip / grommet is placed. Clip / grommet symbol. Place the clip / grommet at the new location: If you click a node, the clip / grommet is placed, anchored at that node. If you hover the cursor over a bundle, a tooltip displays the distance between the cursor position and the adjacent node in the direction of the start of the bundle. Click to place the clip / grommet. The Node Position Utility dialog box is displayed to fine-tune the position of the reference node created to anchor the clip / grommet to the bundle. |
| Delete a Clip or Grommet | Select one of the entities related to the clip / grommet: Node at which the clip / grommet is placed. Clip / grommet symbol. Either: Press Space Bar and enter Delete. Right-click the selected entity and select Delete. Press the Delete key. The clip / grommet is removed from the design and the Harness Design Browser. If the clip / grommet was anchored at a reference node, with no other components anchored at the same node, the node is removed. |
