a Device From Capital Component Manager as a Symbol

You can add a library device that has a symbol associated with it to a diagram as a symbol. All the pins in the library part are automatically placed on the symbol.

Click the Parts tab to access the Parts Browser.

  1. In the search fields at the top of the dialog box / browser, select a part number type from the dropdown list and type the library part number of the device you require in the text box. Alternatively, click the Search parts using criteria specified button () to display a list of parts matching your search criteria.Tip You can use the Filter to reduce the number of parts that are displayed when you search.

  2. To create the device:In the Part Selection dialog box, select the device and click Insert.

In the Parts Browser, double-click a library part that has a symbol associated with it, or right-click it and select Create Device with symbol.

Note If the “Create Device with symbol” menu option is unavailable it indicates that the device has no associated symbol.

If the symbol is not a composite symbol, the symbol is displayed next to the cursor; if the symbol is a composite symbol, the Add Symbol dialog box is displayed. Note See Composite Symbols for a description of composite symbols.

  1. If the symbol is not a composite symbol, click to place the device. Skip the remaining steps in this procedure.

Results

  • The device is added to the diagram as a symbol.

Note

If you add a device as a symbol such that one or more of its pins are touching the side of a plug that can connect with a device, the plug will be mated with the device, and matching pins will be added as required.

You cannot resize a symbol in Capital Logic Designer. To resize a symbol graphic, you must use Capital Symbol Designer and then update the symbol graphic on the diagram. See Updating Symbols.
