Aligning Multi-Location Node Component Graphics

You can align multi-location component (MLC) node graphics relative to the node at which they are located.

The alignments are stored in the design data and any modifications you make are updated to all diagrams in the same design.

The alignment settings are retained when you bridge data in and out.

If composite parent diagram has MLC graphics enabled and aligned, the composite breakdown will propagate MLC graphics alignment changes to relevant child diagram (including protected diagrams).

Prerequisites

  • You have used styling to define a graphical shape to indicate multi-location node components. See also the Multi-Location Components section of “Harness Shape Parameters” in the Capital Diagram Styling User Guide.

Procedure

Right-click the currently aligned edge of the MLC graphic and select Align Node MLC. You can align the left / center / right side of the graphic with the node.

Results

The graphic is aligned as configured.

Note

The left or right alignment of the MLC graphic, relative to the nodes at which it is anchored, is calculated based upon the direction in which the graphic was originally drawn. This can lead to unexpected results when adjusting the alignment, so some experimentation may be required.

Examples

Node MLC Spot Tape and Dimensions

Where you align to the left or right, the edge of the graphic is aligned with the node. You can add a dimension line from the node, to display accurate positioning of tape during the assembly process.
