Creating

a Function in a Diagram

A function is an object into which connectors and signals can plug. A signal can act as an interface object between a function or a signal can plug directly into a function.

You can either create your own functions as detailed below, or use previously created functions from a common library. See Adding a Symbol to a Diagram.

Procedure

Press Space Bar and enter Function.
Position the mouse cursor over a grid point where you want to place one corner of the function.
Drag the mouse away to place the opposite corner of the function. A gray rectangle is displayed, along with the dimensions of the function. Drag the mouse until the rectangle is the size that you want the function to be and click the grid point where you want to place the opposite corner.
Note If you place a function across the path of a signal, ports are automatically created where the signal enters and exits the function. The signal is broken and a new signal with the same properties is created on one side of the function. The two signal are attached to the ports. If you hold CTRL during the second click, the function is fully populated with ports.
