Shared Objects Browser

The Shared Objects Browser is located on the lower left side of the application window and is opened by clicking the Shared tab.

• Toolbar Edit Shared Object icon () Used to edit a shared object. See Editing Shared Devices and Connectors.

Create Revision icon () Used to create a revision of a shared object. See Creating a New Revision of a Shared Object.

Freeze/Unfreeze Shared Objects icon () Used to freeze and unfreeze shared objects. See Freeze and Unfreeze Shared Objects.

Delete Unused Shared Objects icon () Used to delete multiple unused shared objects in a project. See Deleting Unused Shared Objects.

Delete Shared Object icon () Used to delete a single unused shared object from a project. See Deleting Unused Shared Objects.

Refresh Shared Objects icon () Used to refresh the shared objects in your instance of Capital Logic Designer so you can see changes made to the shared objects by other users or in Capital Project Manager.

					Note 
						Cross-reference data on shared objects is not updated when you click the
							Refresh Shared Objects icon. To update cross‑reference data, you
							must click Refresh > Cross
								References on the Capital ribbon to Refresh External
								Data. See also Cross-References on Objects

or Pins for a list of actions that update cross‑references automatically.

• Browser tree Lists the shared objects in the currently open project. Frozen shared objects are depicted with blue snowflakes on their icons. For example: . Shared objects that do not have an instance placed in the current design display dimmed.

Within each object type folder, objects created in designs with a design abstraction specified are listed under a design abstraction node. The Shared Multicores and Shared Overbraids folders contain a sub-folder for each shared multicore/overbraid listing the conductors contained in that multicore/overbraid.

• String-based filter ( / )

In the field next to the Enter Filter String icon () enter a series of characters. A filter is applied to the browser tree so that only objects with names containing that series of characters are listed. The behavior of the filter varies depending on whether you use wildcards and the case (upper or lower) of the specified characters. See also “Browser Tab and Dialog Box Filters” in the Capital Design Tools - Common Functions User Guide. Click the Clear Filter String icon () to clear the filter.

• Filter dropdown list Select an option in the dropdown list to filter the objects displayed in the browser tree to those from the active diagram, active design, active active build list, active design abstraction, or active build list and abstraction. The active build list filter options are only available when you have an active build list. The active design abstraction is the design abstraction of the active design.

Note

Certain actions may be unavailable because of a domain restriction on associated shared object definitions or library parts. If you require access to one of these actions on an object, contact your system administrator. See “Domains” in the Capital Access Manager User Guide for access restrictions because of Domain settings.

Tip

You can right-click a shared object revision and select Show Usages to find which build lists and designs use it. See Viewing Shared Object Usage.

You can right-click a shared object revision and select Swap Out Revision to swap instances of that shared object revision for another compatible revision. See Swapping Out Shared Objects for a Compatible Revision.

Tip

You can press Space Bar and enter Toggle Browser Area to show / hide the Shared Objects Browser and other browsers.
