Conflicting Attributes and Properties Dialog Box

To access:

  • Click OK in the Share Dialog Box [Devices, Connectors and Splices] when

sharing a device, plug, jack, inline, ring terminal or splice into an existing shared object that has attribute or property values that conflict with those of the object being promoted.

  • Click OK in the Share Dialog Box [Multicores and Overbraids] when

sharing a multicore or overbraid into an existing shared object that has attribute or property values that conflict with those of the object being promoted, or that has inner cores with attribute or property values that conflict with the values on their associated inner core in the object being promoted.

  • Click OK in one of the Edit Shared Dialog Boxes when associating a symbol with a shared device or connector that has attribute or property values that conflict with those of the symbol.

  • Click OK in the Create Shared Device Dialog Box when associating a device symbol with a shared device that has attribute or property values that conflict with those of the symbol.

  • Click OK in the Create Shared Splice Dialog Box when updating the properties and attributes of an existing shared splice using the properties and attributes of a symbol that has property or attribute values that conflict with those of the shared splice.

Used to specify which conflicting attribute or property values should be retained.

Objects

Field Description
Shared object tree The shared object that the object being promoted is being shared into. If conflicts also exist on pins or sub-components such as device connectors or backshells, they are listed in a tree as child nodes of the object. Click the shared object, or one of its pins or sub-components, to populate the Attributes and Properties lists.
Attributes Not displayed when multiple items are selected in the target objects tree. Lists the attributes that conflict: Name The name of the attribute. Source The value of the attribute on the object being promoted or on the symbol being associated with a shared device or connector. Target The value of the attribute on the shared object. Result The currently selected value. Initially populated with the Target value. Click to toggle between the Source value and the Target value.
Properties Not displayed when multiple items are selected in the target objects tree. Lists the properties that conflict: Name The name of the property. Source The value of the property on the object being promoted or on the symbol being associated with a shared device or connector. Target The value of the property on the shared object. Result The currently selected value. Initially populated with the Target value. Click to toggle between the Source value and the Target value.
Choose Results From Source Click to change all the values in the Result columns of all nodes selected in the target object tree to the values on the object being merged into another object. Target Click to change all the values in the Result columns of all nodes selected in the target object tree to the values on the object currently selected in the Select tab. Tip To select multiple nodes in the target object tree, press Ctrl or Shift when selecting nodes. To select all nodes in the tree, select one node, and then press Ctrl+A. With multiple nodes selected in the target object tree the Attributes list and Properties list are not displayed. However, attribute and property values in the Result columns of those lists do still get changed when you click the Source or Target buttons.
Apply Click to retain the values currently specified in the Result columns.
Skip Click to retain the Target values and discard the Source values.
