Mixed Merging and Combining
Formboards
You can create a single mixed Combined / Merged Formboard design by combining one or more harnesses onto an existing Merged Formboard or merging one or more harnesses onto a Combined Formboard.
Prerequisites
- You have a already created a Merged or Combined formboard design.
Procedure
Open the relevant Merged or Combined Formboard design
Decide which action you want to run: If you want to...
Do the following...
Combine further harnesses onto the Merged Formboard
Follow the steps in the Combining Formboards topic.
Merge further harnesses onto the Combined Formboard
Follow the steps in the Merging Formboards topic.
If you have multiple designs combined/merged on the formboard and you use the Merge All Matching action to automatically merge another member design, the process examines all the available harnesses and merges the member design with the one it matches best. If you want to force the process to merge the member with a specific harness, you must start by using the Place / Merge action to manually merge a single bundle from the member design with the corresponding bundle on the combined/merged harness you want to merge with. This establishes a connection between the member and the target harness. You can then use the Merge All Matching action and all further matches are limited to the two harnesses. All others on the combined board are no longer considered by the automatic merging. This consideration does not arise in either the pure merged case, where there is only one harness on the merged board, or the pure combined case, where there is no merging of bundles.
