Auto-routing of Signals

Auto-routing means that the Route Selected action is performed automatically on connected signals when:

  • functions / symbols / ports are moved

  • ports are repositioned on functions

  • functions / symbols / ports are rotated

  • functions / symbols / ports are flipped

  • a symbol is selected for a function

  • a symbol is reselected for a function

  • a symbol is updated for a function

  • a signal is created between two points (ports or empty space) without clicking to create segments between those two points

Auto-routing can be activated or deactivated by pressing Space Bar and entering Auto-route, by pressing Ctrl+Shift+R on your keyboard, or by clicking the Auto-route: ON/OFF indicator on the Status Bar. The indicator icon shows whether it is activated or deactivated, and which mode is currently active:

    • Auto-routing is off.
    • Auto-route is on.

Note

Diagram rendering by auto-routing is controlled by the Auto-route project preferences. This ensures the Auto-routing action honors user specified values for Diagram flow, signal/message spacing and minimum signal/message length.
