Cavity Component Management

Adding Cavity Components

to Empty Cavities

You can interactively add “spare” terminals, with associated part numbers help, into single or multiple, empty cavity rows, that do not have terminating conductors.

See also Automatically Selecting Cavity Components for information on automatically selecting terminals for empty cavities.

Prerequisites

  • A connector, backshell, or device is present with empty cavities available to be populated. Note The following method describes how to manually add terminals to empty cavities, but the steps are also applicable to manually specify cavity seals:

Procedure

  1. Open the Cavity Component Management Dialog Box and

select the required cavity row. Single rows or multiple rows can be selected.

  1. Click the Specify Terminal button (). The Select Part Dialog Box is displayed.

  2. Select a terminal from the connector, backshell, or device housing definition as listed in the Matching Wire Specifications or Non-Matching Wire Specifications lists.

  3. Click OK, to confirm the selection and close the Part Selection Dialog Box.

Results

  • The part number of the selected terminal is displayed in the Terminal field of the empty cavity row in the Cavity Component Management dialog box. Note Subsequent automatic cavity part selections do not override your selections.
