Adding a
Connector with an Associated Library Part
You can place a connector onto a harness design by associating a connector from the library.
Procedure
Press Space Bar and enter Connector. The cursor changes to .
Click to place the connector:If you click a node, the connector will be placed, anchored at that node.
If you click an empty area of the design, a new structure node will be created at which to anchor the connector.
The Add Connector Dialog Box is displayed. Note If you press Ctrl when you click to place the component, the Add Connector dialog box does not display.
Click the ellipsis (...) button to the right of the Library Part field. The Part Selection dialog box is displayed to search for and insert a connector from the library. The associated connector will be displayed in the Library Part field.Note To create an IDC (insulation displacement connector), you must check the IDC attribute and enter the number of cavities required. The Part Selection Dialog Box will filter only IDCs when the attribute is checked.
Click OK. The connector is placed onto the design. The following connector entities are displayed:The component part number
Any Name assigned to the connector
A connector cavity table
Any symbol associated with the connector Note The connector entities listed comprise the default offering as dictated by the style set shipped with Capital Harness Designer. Both the entities displayed, and the appearance of those entities, can be modified. See also the Capital Diagram Styling User Guide.
Results
- The connector is added to the Harness Design Browser.
