Deleting a Single Line

You can delete a segment of a single line, the entire single line, or delete the graphical instance of segments and single line objects on a diagram.

Procedure

  1. To delete a segment of a single line, select the segment:

           Right-click and select Delete.

Press space bar, type Delete, and then select
               Home > Delete.

If you delete a segment or device that are connected, the device
connection and the diagram are deleted from the Connections tab.

If the segment is in the middle of a single line, the single line
splits into two and a new single line entry, including the device connections on each
entry, is listed in the Design Browser.

  2. To delete an entire single line, select the single line in the Design Browser or on the diagram:

    Right-click and select Delete.

Press space bar, type Delete, and then select Home > Delete.

Note If you delete a device connected to a single line, the device connection and the relevant diagram are deleted from the Connections tab.

  3. To delete the graphical instance of a segment, entire single line, or device:
Select the object on the diagram or in the Design Browser.

Press Ctrl+Delete or right-click and select Delete Graphical Instance.
The device connection is preserved but the diagram containing the Unplaced object is deleted on the Connections tab. Note The object may be moved to the Unplaced folder or deleted if the last instance is removed. If the object is deleted, the device connection is also deleted. If additional instances of the same connection exist in the project, the associated diagram references will persist on the Connections tab.

  4. To remove a device connection without deleting a segment, single line, or device on the diagram:
Right-click the device connection on the diagram and select Delete or Disconnect Selected.
The device connection is deleted from the Connections tab but the end is preserved as an empty row.
