Capital Harness Designer LD Integration
Capital Harness Designer
LD Configuration
The clientprops.xml file includes the externallibrarysynchtool and externalharnessdesigneditor parameters used to configure the integration functionality. You can activate either or both parameters on an individual installation depending on the role of each user. If you choose not to configure these parameters, the functionality is hidden.
For a description of the settings in each parameter, see “The clientprops.xml File Format” in the Capital Configuration Files Reference Guide.
Prerequisite Minimum Software Versions
Capital 2021.1 SP2202
Capital Harness Designer LD 2021.1 (Windows 10, see also the Capital Harness Designer LD / Layout User Manual)
Integration
Functionality
There are two parts of integration functionality for installations running Capital Harness Designer LD with Capital Harness Designer or Capital Harness Designer Modular:
Library Integration
Design Integration
Library
Integration Configuration
Capital Database Manager LD contains library part definitions and symbol views of these library parts. This data must be replicated in Capital Component Manager and Capital Symbol Designer to be available in the Capital design tools.
The externallibrarysynchtool parameter is used to display the “Action > Transfer from Capital Database Manager LD” action in Capital Project Manager, to replicate library parts and symbol views into the Capital database.
You must configure the appropriate parameter for the database supporting your Capital Database Manager LD installation (Oracle or Microsoft SQL). See “Library Integration” in the Capital Configuration Files Reference Guide.
Transferring
Capital Database Manager LD Library Parts Data
When the “Transfer from Capital Database Manager LD” action is invoked, the system automatically connects to the Capital Database Manager LD database and starts to replicate the components into the Capital database.
A progress bar is displayed during the transfer process. When complete, you can review the configured output file for more information on the processing of the Capital Database Manager LD data. See also Transferring Capital Database Manager LD Data Overview“.
Design
Integration Configuration
The Capital Harness Designer LD design data is stored in its native format. The Capital design data exists separately to the LD design data, but there is an action to Vault (associate) the LD designs with the Capital designs. See also Vaulting Concepts.
The externalharnessdesigneditor parameter is used to display the following actions:
- Capital Project Manager “Capital Harness Designer LD > Vault” to store an LD design in the Capital database as an attachment against the selected Capital design.
“Capital Harness Designer LD > Open” to open designs in Capital Harness Designer LD.
- Capital Harness Designer / Modular “Transform Capital Harness Designer LD Content” on the Workflow ribbon to bridge the LD design content into the Capital design.
See “Design Integration” in the Capital Configuration Files Reference Guide, for example connection details.
