Node Selection

The routing methods are typically calculated between two specified nodes (Node-to-Node); however, if the From and To nodes are unknown, you can configure the system to select the nodes associated with an area or device.

Mode	Description
Node-to-Node	The system highlights a selection of available segments starting at the From node or the To node based on which end of the route you choose. When you select an available segment, the system highlights the next available segments at the end of the selected segment. Continue selecting segments until the End node is reached, or you cancel the action.
Area-to-Area	If the position of electrical equipment is not known sufficiently to highlight a specific Start node, the routing can be From or To the Area containing the equipment. The From and To equipment must be in different areas. Routing is between any nodes at the boundaries of the areas at each end, resulting in a partially routed cable. Automatic routing identifies the combination of boundary nodes at each end which will create the shortest cable route. If area dimensions are specified, and the project is configured “off route”, lengths can be added at either end of the partial route, elevating the cable status to “fully routed”.
Device-to-Device	If Start and End nodes are not specified, but the coordinates of the electrical equipment are known, the system selects available nodes automatically. The nodes will be within a prescribed distance from the equipment, and in the same Area. Automatic routing identifies the combination of equipment nodes at each end which will create the shortest cable route.
