Map Ports Dialog (for
Symbol)
Displayed when replacing a symbol instance with a symbol that has a different number of ports (either when using the Replace Symbol action or when updating a library part on an object.
Used to map ports on a symbol to ports on a symbol instance when you replace a symbol in a diagram.
Symbol ports Lists the ports on the replacement symbol. Unmapped ports are displayed bold. You must associate ports from this with Instance ports either by clicking Associate All to create automatic mappings or by selecting one port from each list and clicking Associate. Displayed when using the Replace Symbol action.
Library part Lists the ports on the library part. Unmapped ports are displayed bold. You must associate ports from this with Instance ports either by clicking Associate All to create automatic mappings or by selecting one port from each list and clicking Associate. Displayed when updating a library part.
Instance ports Lists the ports on the symbol instance in the diagram. Unmapped ports are displayed bold. You must associate ports from this with Symbol ports or Library part ports either by clicking Associate All to create automatic mappings or by selecting one port from each list and clicking Associate.
Associate Creates a mapping between a port on the replacement symbol and a port on the symbol instance. Select one port from Instance ports and one port from or Library part ports and click this to create a mapping.
Associate All Creates an automatic mapping for each of the Symbol ports or Library part ports to the Instance ports. This is not available if some ports have been mapped already.
Disassociate Unmaps a port on the replacement symbol from a port on the symbol instance. Select one of the mapped ports from either Instance ports, Symbol ports, or Library part and click this to unmap them.
Disassociate All Unmaps all of the Symbol ports or Library part ports and Instance ports.
Changes Lists the changes that will be made to the symbol instance when you click OK.
Preserve Diagram Port Position Select this if you want the ports on the symbol instance to remain where they are in the diagram already.
Remove Properties not on Symbol Select this if you want to remove any properties from the symbol instance that are not on the symbol in the symbol library. Displayed when using the Replace Symbol action.
Copy Attribute/Property Values from Symbol Select this if you want to copy any properties and attributes that are on the symbol in the symbol library to the symbol instance. Displayed when using the Replace Symbol action.
Preserve Attribute Text Select this if you want to maintain the visibility of the object attributes on the diagram. If you do not select this, they will no longer be displayed. Displayed when using the Replace Symbol action.
Preserve Port Names Select this if you want to maintain any port names that have been changed manually on the diagram. If you do not select this, they will be replaced with port names from the symbol library. Displayed when using the Replace Symbol action.
