Splices
You can use splices to join wires or shield terminations together and to connect a shield termination to a wire. Splices are represented on diagrams by a filled circle.
There are two types of splices; butt splices and center strip splices. Wires connected to a butt splice terminate at a pin on the splice. Center strip splices can have pins and can also have wires that have their insulation stripped at a point between the two ends of the wire and that pass through the splice.
The Butt Splice icon () and the Center Strip Splice icon () display in the Design Browser. Center‑stripped wires are shown as a child node of the splice node and listed in the Conductors folder.
Note
In Capital Logic Designer you cannot add a pin to an existing splice and you cannot create a multi-pin splice. Multi-pin splices must have a symbol associated. You can create multi-pin splices in Capital Component Manager based on a symbol, and create multi-pin shared splices based on a symbol (with or without a library part association) in Capital Project Manager. See “Splices” in the Capital Component Manager User Guide or “Shared Splice” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide. Once a multi-pin splice has been created in Capital Component Manager or Capital Project Manager, you can add it to a diagram in Capital Logic Designer.
Pins on design-wide splices and shared splices are always unrestricted. When you add a new instance of the splice, all the pins on the object are added to the new instance. See Design-Wide Objects or Shared Splices.
