Harness Processing Configuration

There are various mandatory and optional configuration settings you can use with harness processing.

Design

Log Paths

Capital Harness Designer and Capital Harness Designer Modular use native processing routines to process both single, modular, and composite harness designs. This architecture requires the creation and specification of a number of shared locations where the applications can exchange harness data.

Before harness processing can be performed, the following steps must be taken:

The paths to the Design Logs must be specified for your Capital client installation in Capital Project Manager (navigate to the Paths node of the menu in the system preferences, and then click the ellipsis (...) button to the right of relevant field to open a generic file browser, from which you can select the required location): Note See also “System Preferences for Paths” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide for information on the other fields available.

Design Log The location in which all result log files generated from the harness processing are placed. This includes the results from composite and modular harness breakdown, harness processing and harness checks, which are all stored in this location as xml files, named according to the process, the date and the time. For example: Composite Breakdown.10-Oct-2008-12_30_05.xml.

Lock

or Hide Selection Options

You can optionally pre-configure, lock or hide the selection options on the Harness Processing Dialog Box using the Default Processing Configuration project preference settings.

Automatically

Run Design Rule Checks

You can optionally predefine a set of Design Rule Checks (DRCs) that are automatically executed as the first step when you launch the Harness Processing wizard, to avoid wasting time processing designs which may have DRC errors.

Set and configure the “Running Mode” of the Checks project preference to “On Processing” to trigger the automatic execution of the DRCs.

The results display in the Design Rule Checks Output Window and Design Logs. The Audit Trail records pass / fail information.

If all DRCs pass, the wizard opens and you can process the harness as required.

If any DRCs fail:

Warning and Information severity checks — the processing wizard opens.You can choose to continue with the processing or abandon it to investigate the issues reported in the Design Rule Checks Output Window.
Error severity checks — a message displays and the processing wizard does not open. You must resolve the reported errors and re-launch the processing wizard.
