Preventing Pin Duplication
Within a Design
You can use the “Disallow pin/port duplication within a design” project preference to prevent pins being duplicated within a design. This project preference applies to pins on non-shared objects (including design-wide objects) and to pins on shared objects.
Note
The following types of pins are excluded from the “Disallow pin/port duplication within a design” project preference check and you can place duplicate instances of such pins regardless of whether or not that project preference is selected: reference pins, stud pins on non-shared objects and unrestricted pins on shared objects.
In designs in the active build list you can place duplicate instances of pins placed on instances of a shared object in designs outside the active build list. This is not affected by the “Disallow pin/port duplication within a design” project preference - the project preference only prevents pin duplication within a design.
Procedure
Press the space bar and enter Project Preferences. The Project Preferences Dialog Box is displayed.
In the Project Preferences browser, select General.
In the General Preferences panel, select Disallow pin/port duplication within a design.
Results
Adding duplicate pins within the design is prevented, with the following exceptions: reference pins, stud pins on non-shared objects and unrestricted pins on shared objects.
The “Multiple instances of pin within the design” Design Rule Check will report any instances of duplicate pins (not including duplicate reference pins, duplicate stud pins or duplicate unrestricted pins) that were created before the “Disallow pin/port duplication within a design” project preference was selected. See “Design Rule Checks Applicable to Capital Logic Designer Designs” in the Capital Design Tools - Common Functions User Guide.
