Bundle Overview

Bundle configurations can be drawn either full scale (length of a bundle, as drawn, matches the length at which it will be printed) or not-to-scale (relationship between the drawn length of a bundle and its printed length is flexible).

  • Bundles in not-to-scale diagrams can be placed statically or dynamically: A static bundle has a length you specify when placing it onto the diagram; this length will not change if the bundle is resized on the diagram.

A dynamic bundle has a length derived from the separation of the start and end nodes as placed on the diagram.

In addition to placing not-to-scale bundles using the static and dynamic methods, you can place a bundle using the Add Bundle Dialog Box, to specify new or existing structure nodes, as well as variant lengths.

  • Bundles in Full Scale Diagrams can be: Full Scale Bundles — where their true length, as printed, is determined by their length on the diagram canvas, and any modifications to the specified length need to be reflected in the drawn length. However, the Add Bundle dialog box is also available for full scale bundles, to enable bundles to be drawn using the radial option, specifying their length before placing the bundle, defining the vector from the start node, but allowing the application to place the end node automatically.

Flex Bundles — which you can stretch or compress to a new graphical length. This is helpful when you need to quickly change the bundle layout on a full scale diagram, or when connecting bundle ends. Flex bundles have a tool tip which displays both the graphical and physical length of the bundle. See New Harness Diagram Dialog Box and Converting a Full Scale Bundle to a Flex Bundle.

Note

The option to create full scale diagrams is a licensed operation. If you do not have the required license, this option is unavailable.
