Using Projects

You can create a project from within Capital Logic Designer. Once a project has been created, all project‑level data can be managed within Capital Project Manager.

You can import and export a project from a Capital database as XML files. The data stored in XML files is readily manipulated manually. The exported project XML file contains all of the data, such as designs, diagrams, options, and object names, that are contained in its original database record.

Procedure

Determine the action you want to take:

If you want to...	Do the following:
Create a project	Press the space bar and enter New Project. The New Project Dialog Box is displayed. Enter a Name for the project. Click OK. The project is created and added to the Project Browser.
Import a project	Note You must have the Analysis permission assigned to your user account in Capital Access Manager to import or export projects that have Analysis project models attached to them. See also “Permissions” in the Capital Access Manager User Guide. Press the space bar and enter Import Project. The Import Project dialog box is displayed. Navigate to the Project XML (*.xml) file to import. Click Import Project. A progress bar displays the status of the import and disappears once import is complete. Note An imported project is not opened automatically and must be opened manually.
Export a project	Note You must have the Analysis permission assigned to your user account in Capital Access Manager to import or export projects that have Analysis project models attached to them. See also “Permissions” in the Capital Access Manager User Guide. To export the currently open project, press the space bar and enter Export Current Project. To export a project that is not open, press the space bar and enter Select Project, and then select the project in the Select Project dialog box and click OK. The Export Project dialog box is displayed. Specify the folder location and file name for the project’s exported XML file. To re-import the project into the same Capital database in the future, select As Copy. If selected, all the database UIDs of the exported project (within the exported XML file) are replaced with anonymous UIDs. Note When a project is exported from Capital, its original record remains in the database with its original UIDs. Therefore, if the project is exported without anonymous UIDs, it cannot be imported back into the same Capital database unless its UIDs have been changed because its original UIDs are already present in the original project in the database and cannot be overwritten. A project with anonymous UIDs is automatically assigned new UIDs when it is re-imported into Capital. Click Export Project. Note When a project export is started, a complete snapshot of the current state of the project and all its associated data is taken, it is this project snapshot that is then exported. This is to prevent inconsistencies in data due to project modifications being made by other users during an export. The project is exported from the database.
Open a project	Press the space bar and enter Open. The Open Project Dialog Box is displayed. Select the project to open and click OK. The project is added to the Project Browser.
Edit a project’s attributes / properties	Right-click the project name in the Project Browser and select Edit. The Edit Project Dialog Box is displayed. Edit the attributes and properties as required. Click OK.
Close a project	Either: Press the space bar and enter Close Project. Right-click the project name in the Project Browser and select Close Project. Click the Close Project button () in the Project Browser. The Close Project message box is displayed. Click Save & Close to save changes and close the project or click Discard & Close to close without saving changes. The project is removed from the Project Browser.
Delete a project	Caution Only delete if you are certain that the project is no longer needed. The deletion of a project cannot be undone without recourse to a database backup, which may not be up-to-date. Open the project to delete. Press the space bar and enter Delete Project. The Question message box is displayed. Click Yes to proceed and delete the project. The project is removed from the database.
