Adding an External Style

Dimension

You can place an external dimension against a node component in areas too small for standard dimensioning, indicating its real-world distance between components.

Procedure

  1. Press Space Bar and enter External Dimension, or press Shift+F. The cursor changes to .

  2. Hover the cursor over the node (the component) at which you want to add the dimension. The cursor changes to and the node is highlighted.

  3. Click to select the node.

  4. In the same way, select the node from which the dimension distance should be calculated.

  5. Double-click to confirm the placement. The external dimension indicator is placed at the node component. The target component, and the distance to it, are displayed.

  6. The system displays an arrow mark to signify the direction of the dimension. You can flip the arrow by right-clicking it and selecting Flip.Note Dimensions are updated dynamically whenever bundle lengths between the two selected nodes are modified. You may toggle between different dimension types by right-clicking on the dimension and selecting Reference, Standard or External Style.
