Add Splice Dialog Box

To access: Press Space Bar and enter Splice Home (requires click to place on design).

Used to add a splice to a design, either by defining a new splice part, or by associating a splice part from the library.

Objects

Field	Description
Name	A unique label for the splice (within this design). Type a name, or click the ellipsis (...) button to the right of the field to select from a list of pre-specified splice names maintained in the project’s Object Type Information in Capital Project Manager. If this field is left blank, the splice is named according to any default names configured for the project in Capital Project Manager. Optional.
Short Description	Automatically displays the Short Description field of the splice if it is already defined in Capital Project Manager. If no predefined information exists, you can enter and edit the Short Description. This attribute is then made available for use in styling and for search queries. Optional.
Library Part	Specifies an association with a splice in the library. Select the required library part number type (Internal, Customer, or Supplier) and click the ellipsis (...) button. The Part Selection Dialog Box is displayed to search for and insert a splice from the library. Click the button to view details of the associated part. Click the button to remove the associated part. Optional. If a library part is selected, all attributes for which values can be specified against the library part are completed and set to read-only.
Assembly	Specifies the splice is part of an assembly. Read-only.
Balanceable	Specifies whether the Balance Splices option assigns the wire entry directions during Harness Processing. Select to enable Balance Splices to assign the direction of entry for each wire on the splice. Default is selected. Clear to preserve the direction of entry specified for each wire on the splice. The attribute is also available in Capital Logic Designer and Capital Systems Integrator, and the setting is applied to the harness design if you synchronize the design data. The attribute is automatically selected for splices that have been migrated into the Capital database. You can use the Balanceable attribute in a Query Expression or Attribute Decoration in the style set, to identify if a splice is Balanceable. Optional.
BOM ID	Specifies a unique identifier to be displayed against the component in the Bill of Materials table, the Composite BOM table and in Bill of Material reports generated from Capital E/E Reporter. This attribute is only available when a library part is assigned. Optional. BOM IDs can be automatically prefixed in tables and reports based on project preferences you have configured.
Group	Select the type of splice to use from the dropdown list, from either Solder Sleeve, Splice, or Ultrasonic Weld. Mandatory.
Harness	Used for mapping Capital Logic Designer objects to Capital Harness Designer harnesses during synchronization. See Specifying the Harness Attribute for an Object in the Capital Logic Designer User Guide. Default is the current harness design name. Enter a new name, or click the ellipsis (...) button to select from a list of pre-specified harness names maintained in the project’s Object Type Information in Capital Project Manager. Optional.
Insulation Type	Specifies the type of insulation applied to the splice. Select from Heat Shrink Sleeve, None, or Spot Tape. If you select None, insulation can also be applied manually. If the option Process insulation for splice with insulation type=”None” is selected No against the harness in the Project Preferences Dialog Box, any manually applied insulation or automatically added spot tape is retained when the system selects parts. Note If the insulation type was previously Spot Tape and the system has automatically selected spot tape for the splice, the processing will retain the spot tape if subsequently the insulation type is specified as None and the option is selected No. If the Insulate Splices option is selected against the harness in the Edit Design Dialog Box, the insulation type defaults to Heat Shrink Sleeve when a new splice is created. If a harness that contains splices is subsequently sealed, the existing splices retain their insulation type. Optional.
MCad ID	If the harness was bridged in from another application, such as Capital Harness Classic or an MCAD application, this field displays the component's unique identifier as derived from the external data. Read‑only.
Repositionable	Select the check box to specify if a splice is to be included in repositioning by the splice positioning action. Clear the check box for the splice to be excluded. The default is selected. Mandatory. You can also right-click the splice or splices and select either Include in Repositioning or Exclude from Repositioning to set the Repositionable flag. If just a single splice is selected, only the action that negates the current state of the splice is enabled.
Sealed	Specifies whether waterproofing is applied to the splice. If the “Insulate Splices” option is selected against the design in the Edit Design Dialog Box, this option is selected by default when a new splice is created. Optional.
Level	If the current harness design has been synchronized with a Capital Systems Integrator design, this field displays the harness levels in which the splice exists. See also Synchronizing from a Capital Systems Integrator Design. Read-only.
Option	Specifies the derivatives in which the splice exists. To create or edit an option expression, click the ellipsis (...) button to the right of the field and use the Edit Option Expression Dialog Box. Alternatively, you can enter or modify an option expression directly within the field. Optional.

Generated FM Codes	This field is only available for Capital Harness Designer Modular, see “User/Generated FM/PM Fields”.
