Removing

the Association Between a Symbol and a Shared Object

You can remove a symbol association from the shared object definition of a shared device, plug, jack, inline, or ring terminal.

Restrictions and Limitations

  • You can do this only if none of the pins mapped to the symbol have been used. If an instance of the shared object that is placed in a design uses the symbol, you cannot remove the symbol association. If you delete all instances of the shared object that use the symbol, you cannot remove the symbol association from the shared object definition until you save the design.

Procedure

  1. Right-click the shared device or connector to remove a symbol association from and select Edit Shared device or connector.Note To remove the association between a symbol and a shared inline, right‑click the plug or the jack, do not select both sides of the inline.

The Edit Shared device or connector dialog box is displayed. See Edit Shared Dialog Boxes.

  1. Click the Symbols tab.

  2. Select the symbol to remove and click Remove.

  3. Click OK.

Results

  • The symbol is removed from the shared object definition of the object.
